I'd think any questions about the authenticity or 'real-world' accuracy of these tests would be best answered by NCAP....

The fact they are independent with no affiliation/vested interest in a manufacturer would satisfy my doubting mind, the fact that all manufacturers strive to score well (and tout that result when obtained) would tell me the manufacturers value their opinion.

Some objective measure is better than none at all.
