Scenic RX4 1.9 DCI starting problem. Stop Solenoid?

Hi, I have a 51 reg RX4 1.9DCI with an intermitent starting problem. I have replaced the heater plugs as 2 were not working and the car has had a new battery fitted. I have checked that the new heater plugs are working so I don't think this is the problem. The car starts ok sometimes and then on other occasions it takes ages to get it going. Could this be due to the stop solenoid sticking closed now and again??? If so where is it??? I think my model has 2 pumps a low pressure pump and a high pressure pump feeding the injector rail. Is the stop solenoid the unit with 2 wires (pink and white) on the end of the high pressure pump and does anyone know how to remove it. Any help appreciated. Tony
