Re: how to dry out wet footwells?

there are plastic bungs in the floor panels, they are stuck in with mastic, and can be pushed out by using a trolly jack and a socket, stick socket on jack, adjust jack till socket is directly under bung, raise till bung pops up and flood of water pours out.
mind out for the side clips, try not to break them.
you could also pull the carpet up by undoing the seats(if its really that bad) the skirting trim along the sills, pull up the carpet back onto the seats and mop up what hasnt drained out. you will have to squeeze the foam sound deadening as well as it soaks up water very well.
dont forget to use some anti-mould/ferbreeze stuff to get rid of the smell.

Spare parts available for 2001 Scenic 1.9Dci, 97 Lag1, 02 Lag2.
