If theres water on top of the carpet then the sound proofing under the carpet will be saturated and you would not believe the amount of water it can hold.Really you'll need to lift the carpet up and then take the lowest drain plug out of the area and allow it to drain for a few hours.You can then reseal the drain plug,refit the carpet and use a de-humidifier in the car overnight (or better for a few days) to throughly dry the whole interior out.If you don't have access to a de-humidifier then you can hire them for very little from tool rental places,it is really the only way to get the interior 100% dry.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
