Re: Laguna Estate Buying Advice Please

The 2.2dci engine in the Lag II can also be a bit fragile. Although the 1.9 seems more affected, that may be purely down to the fact that more people have the 1.9.
The 2.0dci engine wasn't introduced until approx 2006 so will be too new and expensive for your budget.

If you can stretch to it go for an 04 model ( late 53 plate on) as a lot of the earlier electrical gremlins were ironed out, also modified turbo intercooler etc.

With 100k miles on the clock chances are the turbo has already been replaced, so it iwll have the modified intercooler etc.

Any car from any manufacturer of the age/mileage you are looking at could be susceptible to a few problems.
Go with your instincts and if the car you look at doesnt seem right, walk away. You dont have to buy the first one you see, there will be plenty out there that have been well maintained and cared for.

At the end of the day most people use forums to complain about problems, few come on to say how good their car is.
If you buy a new tele from a shop - do you go back and tell them that it is working ok? - probably not, but you would go back to tell them it was faulty in some way.
There a loads of Lag II's out there that must be ok - otherwise nobody would have one
