Re: wierd brakes after repair

have they fitted the wrong brake calipers ???

there are usually two common makes that Renault fit ATE & Brembo (Lucas or Mintex are much rarer) and a couple of models (ABS/non ABS) for each manufacturer of caliper !!!

also the handbrake cables have to be the right ones for the calipers as they are not universal (at least i dont think they are?)

i think they simply looked up what was in the book and ordered it without checking what was already fitted.

take it back and get them to change them (at thier expense) for the right ones.

have you tried pressing the foot break and pulling on the handbrake, and also pulling handbrake then pressing pedal to try and get the auto-adjusters to take up the slack.

they should have setup the brakes and ensured they are fully working to MOT regs before the car left the garage, it seems they didnt!

take it round to a MOT station and get them checked (usually you can get it whipped onto the rolling road test for free between tests) if they can write you up a quick ticket on headed paper stating the brakes are incorrectly fitted and an mot failure then you have some serious legal clout to go back and make them get them fixed at thier cost.

Incorrectly fitted/Faulty rear brakes are LETHAL !!!

get it fixed ASAP!!!
