Battery under drivers seat

I saw a previous posting about the battery needing to be a special Gel battery?? have just rung Halfords who won't fit it because of it's location, but they recommend an 063 (I've previously been in the parts side of the Motor Trade, and know what the 063 looks like) but does anyone know if this battery is ok or do I need to have this special battery?

We've just bought the car which has been stood on the forecourt for 2-3 months with the battery connected up I'm pretty sure that this is the reason it won't start and that if I give the car a bit of a run to put some charge back in then it will be sorted? or maybe a new battery wouldn't be a bad idea (the one that's in there at present has a date stamp of 1998 on it) PS anyone recommend a garage I'm based in Leeds.

Hope someone can help
