Possible solution....Rx4 sticky rear door locks.

Ok, as mentioned elsewhere, I managed, out of necessity to look at the lower(door lock) on my Rx4 this afternoon.
The 2 locks, lower door one and the window catch one are identical.{unusually for Renault they are devoid of a part number???}
I was working on the lock today when a mate arrived, with beers and offered an opinion. He thought I should change the 2 around and that's actually a great idea for my problem because the solenoid is sticking and stopping the catch resetting after the door is opened. I found a sharp tap on thew latch released the catch so placing the suspect catch on the window is better because I can get to it and tap it free when it plays up.

Pic 8836 is the door minus the inner skin,
8839 is removing the screw for the outer handle/switch, which slides after the screw is out for removal.

I think the final solution for me will be to soak the lock in some form of solvent or diesel overnight to dissolve the grease used at assembly in the factory. I am betting it's gummed up from being 10yo and the heat of our sun has probably killed any malleability it had so is now sticky as opposed to greasy.
This was the solution for mine as I could still hear the solenoid firing, just not actuating the release of the lock

The lock mechanism is the cheapest piece of {????} I've seen in a while. The actuator is one of those tiny wee motors you see in 5 quid plastic cars, very inexpensive. I could go out tomorrow and buy one for less than the price of a beer. I couldn't even see the solenoid. One thing is the whole mechanism is not really repairable due to there being pressed metal rivets holding it together, poor from Mr Renault.
