In fact, isn't there an audible & visible warning alarm to say the card is outside the vicinity of the car?
My Mum has a 2003 Megane with the keyless entry and start up etc, and she managed to leave my Dad stranded in the car with the engine running a while back!
Apparently, he was driving and had dropped my Mum off to nip up the road to see my Aunt, whilst he found a space to park. Having parked someway up the road, he tried stopping the engine, but found he could'nt. It turned out, my Mum had the key in her handbag
