Re: Renault Laguna 1+2 - Shuddering Under Power*FIXED*

The cost to replace the differential sunwheel assembly in the gearbox (i.e. the bit that the LH driveshaft slots into) was 391.70. The job was done by a renault dealer and this was the total cost including all parts, labour and gearbox oil . The labour element of this figure amounted to just under 200 (ex-VAT), so I guess it took them 3 hours or so. It didn't involve removing the gearbox.

The mechanic showed me the worn part and it didn't look that bad to me - he said he'd seen worse. However, once the job was done the difference was staggering. It felt like a new car.

Not an insignificant cost, but worth every penny - if you leave it it just gets worse over time and annoys the hell out of you.
