Re: Garage charges

It's important to realise that a 'diagnostic charge' will vary in price.I'm not trying to defend the amount of money that you have been charged as it is wrong, but a 'diagnostic test' can simply be to plug into the system or it can run to stripping parts off for testing and also stripping out looms to check them etc.

I'd say an average Renault main dealer is closer to 80 an hour plus VAT,if they have to go into depth with a diagnostic check then it doesn't take long to rack up a big bill.I'm not saying it's right, but it does happen.

You would be better advised to find a good independant Renault specialist rather than instantly taking your car to a main dealer.Even some dealer technicians have come on to the forum saying that they should only ever be used for warranty work and little all else as you will get as good (if not better) service from an independant specialist who will charge half the labour rate.
