I had a similar problem with a Lag I a few years back whilst attempting to repair the rear brakes. I ended up taking it to a commercial tyre fitter who charged me a tenner. His heavy duty impact wrench had it off in seconds.
I had thought of going down the oxy-acetylene route but realised spending a tenner would be cheaper than risking of damaging the wheel bearings.
The heat may cook the seals but that does not matter if the purpose of the exercise is to renew the bearing. Fit grease nipples on the new bearing when you are at it. I've done that on my Smart. Have grease nipples on the rear and
lubed bearings on the front. See below links for details:

Obviously the above applies to a Smart car but may work equally well on a Renault.
