Re: Megane CC Buyers Guide/Advice
have you considered the 1.5 DCI in the megane CC. I am not against high mileage cars that have been well maintained and looked after but renaults don't wear high mileages well like an audi would. If its done over 70K then unless it has been done its going to need a new timing belt, pulleys, tensioners and water pump, except for the 2.0 DCI which has a timing chain. The 2.0 DCI is better then the 1.9 DCI but 1.9 DCI fine if its been well maintained. Make sure you change the
and filters every 9,000 miles or once a year, ignore renaults 18k
changes and use good quality
, also don't forget to simmer the
. Hope this helps.
Thanks very much for that. I ideally would like the 2.0dci as its a cam chain but I have a budget to stick to
I must admit I have had a few high mileage cars (I bought a 1.8 escort Diesel (non
) with 70K on and I did 140K in 3 years). So I a not to bothered about high mileage as long as it has been serviced well. I haven't looked at many CC's so haven't a clue how the interior/exterior wears. I would happily consider the 1.5dci as its not a sporty car and we really dont do many miles each year.
Your recommendation of 9K
changes is a good one. Synthetic
is really a must for
diesels. Dont even consider 'semi synthetic' above all look for a synthetic
that meets the required specification for the car at the cheapest price. I used to work in an
Test Centre and I know how the
companies blend oils to pass the tests. So get the cheapest synthetic that meets the spec and change at 9K.
