Has anyone tried giving the solenoid lock a good blast with WD40 or the like - may only be sticking.
Also a decent independent garage may charge a whole lot less after all most Renault dealers charge around £80 an hour labour. In the past I have been able to repair numerous locking solenoids with just a good clean up.
Also if some vandal yanks the unlocked door of its hinges it'll end up costing a helluva lot more. Worse still they end up peeing into the fuel filler. Yes sometimes repairs can be expensive but the alternative may cost much more in the long run.
