Hello Redmore,welcome to the forum.
Thank god Renault abandonded using this system,it has caused many problems in the past.
In your case it's either a faulty key fob or reciever.You need to check that your key is giving a signal every time the button on it is pressed.Most garages have testers that can check this,and it would only take a few seconds to do.If you have a strong signal everytime,then the reciever must be faulty.It is not uncommon for water to get into it via the hole in the roof for the aerial and burn the circuit board out.If this is the case,then a new reciever is around £60 from a Renault dealer(you'll need the number off of the old one).
