Used engine oil especially that from a diesel is carcenogenic. On other words it can cause cancer and other nasty illnesses- that's why you are advised to dispose of it safely.

In my view anyone who decides to contaminate the environment by spreading it around cars or fences is irresponsible to say the least.

Better still applying it anywhere close to a braking system is crazy.
