Re: BBC Watchdog report :: Faulty Renault Clio bonnet catches
Hello there, just signed up to this website to ask in this thread if anybody knows what the hell i should do and if i am entitled to anything?
Yesterday my bonnet had sex with my windsheild doing 50 down a busy dual carrigeway. Luckily the screen didnt smash and there was nobody behind me so i could slow down and mount the kerb safely. My car had just had its MOT done and i was on my way back from picking it up. This adds another factor though, is the MOT centre at fault for not shutting my bonnet properly or is Renault at fault for supplying a faulty catch that i had no idea about until yesterday.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ps. i would have just lurked the thread to find my anwers but at 190 pages this thread is a bit too popular to warrent wading through haha.
According to VOSA, there is a new element in the MOT which would check the bonnet catch, but I am not sure if "fails" if it appears stiff...maybe just be a recommendation "to lubricate it"!!
I would write to Renault UK, send a copy to the dealership who completed the MOT (was it a Renault Franchise by any chance!) -and ask for them to cover the cost of the repairs!
BTW: was it 'serviced' before MOT? If so, the servicing centre are responsible...
Keep going...it's worth fighting for! Good luck and keep us posted!
