Re: Renault automatic gearboxes - are they still as crap as ever??
The 4 speed DPO torque converter auto boxes which are fitted to the mk 2/3 clio, mk1/2 megane, mk1/2 scenic, modus and mk2 laguna are prone to the EVM solonoid pressure regulation valves failing or the pressure sensor failing. The newer DPO auto's are more reliable but I don't find the box as smooth. The 5 speed renault auto's are Aisin warner boxes and the 6 speed auto is a JATCO auto box both of which are very reliable.
Currently in Haree's garage:
I don't have a garage just a driveway. The Modus 1.6 16v VVT Dynamique Auto is my Grandparents car which I also drive.
