I don't know your car so cant be specific, but if you can get to the tail gate via the rear of the car look were the door catch is middle bottom of the door you may see a small area of plastic look carefully for a small slot by putting a small screw driver or similar through this you should be able to release the catch you will then be able to open the door and take off the backing the lock may just need a spray with WD or some such but its likely the motor is burnt out.
Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?
