Talking Re: Renault Scenic - RX4 Buying Advice

Am new to the forum but have just replaced propshaft on 02 rx4 1.9 dci using on of Dave Macs replacement propshaft. Fitted it myself, total cost of 434 as compared to Renault 700 + Vat and 120 + for fitting. Also had passenger side window refusing to budge Renault said regulator was shot 124 + fitting. Decided to have a look myself to find that one of the brushes in the motor had stuck, total cost of repair - squirt of wd40. Replaced pollen filter from local motor factors using the one from a Suzuki Baleno which weighed in at 11 compared to Renaults and its exactly the same. Can't fault the old beast as its averaging 39 - 41 mpg. Hope any of this helps as cant help wondering how many regulators have been replaced unneccessarily.
