Re: door lock/catch sticks open during frosty mornings
During extremely cold mornings, when the drivers door is opened the locking mechanism remains open and will not lock. The door remains like this until it warms up. Its as if it is frozen in the open position.
I've had the car into a Renault Dealer on numerous occasions but they cannot find anything wrong with it.
If it only happens on frosty mornings, I think that is the problem. Renault can't see anything wrong? Really puts your faith in these blokes up a notch.
I would say that it is a mechanical issue which needs lubrication. Possibly WD40 would work and drive out any moisture in the area too.
Are you experiencing any water in the door at all? This would also lead to the problem you have, as the moisture will freeze.
