Renault Megane problems..

Hello everyone,

I have a Renault Megane 2006 model 2.0. I bought my care in late 2006 and ever since I've been encountering endless problems with it. I'm here to see what you people think about the problems im encountering and whether they are 'normal' for renault or whether there IS something wrong with this car and i should ask for some kind of compensation!

I'm located in Kuwait, I bought my car from Renault authorized dealership and the car was stated to meet the country's specifications.

I encountered with the car the following problems (those have been fixed):

1- Driver side door handle melted (replaced under warranty, car is 1.5 years old and driven 22,000 Km only)

2- windscreen wipers water motor malfunctioned (replaced under warranty, car is 1.5 years old and driven 22,000 Km only)

3- Driver side window motor malfunction, also heat is to be blamed (replaced under warranty three months after the prior service, driven 24,000 Km only)

4- Engine mount defective (replaced under warranty three months after the prior service, driven 24,000 Km only)

5- Air condition motor broke away, service centre refused to fix under warranty, after emailing renault website to file complaint the problem was fixed free of charge however it does not show on the service centre records as solved problem (apparently they took it to another garage to be fixed).

Please note that most of the problems above appeared at early stages after my car purchase and the delay of its installation (the date above refers to the installation time) was due to the delay in spare parts availability. The door handle is one of the examples which was reported during the first scheduled visit to the garage and was made available after around six months (give or take).

New problems that emerged:

6- driver side airbag wiring damaged (within the steering wheel).

7- passenger side window regulator damaged

8- engine cooling system damage (service centre still unable to pinpoint the exact leaking source and suggested that they start by replacing what they called water reservoir and some hose, then test the car and see if the problem resistant. my belief is that the water is not leaking from the 'reservoir' for many reasons I can explain later if interested).

The service centre is refusing to fix the above three problems under warranty (claiming warranty expired, the car is four years old) and in order to fix the above they require spare parts and labor charges. Just to get a general idea of what to expect, the initial estimate of the spare parts costs (excluding solving the engine over heating problem) will be 780 euros !!

Clearly the above problems are not a wear and tear issues. They seem to me a quality related issue, one that Renault <i>may be</i> interested in solving but the local service centre prefer not to as they pocket from selling over priced spare parts (they run a monopoly on spare parts since they are the only importers of renault spare parts and local laws and regulations don't allow "illegal" importing of branded merchandise!!).

In my case, and knowing that Renault France IS responsive to my communications about this problems and they are actually looking into finding solutions to my problem. What kind of solution should I look for?

I mean the car is only 4 years old, has only 40,000 KM on it. Yet I keep having endless problems with it. On my current driving habits I would expect the car to live with me for the next 4 years at least... however at this high maintenance costs on parts that are not supposed to fail this soon and this often make me really afraid of this car. Even if Renault fixed those problems today i will eventually face yet another major problem issue that will require me to come back again to Renault France!!

I asked the local dealership if they'd buy the car from me or buy it and allow me to buy another car from them but they refused and the people at the dealership were frank enough to admit that they were glad in first place to get rid of this model and they are not looking forward into buying it back!

I'm so disappointed and frustrated
