Re: Renault Clio 2003 - Engines - Loss of power and Warning Light

well then , where to start ,
my daughters clio had the same symtems as a number of other clio owners , loss of power , warning light on electronic one in centre of dash, also emission light in right hand side of dash, went through the forums on here and found out alot of things to check and go through different peoples experiences,
started with the easy ones , MAP sensor
removed it looked at it , nothing to see but cleaned it , [petrol] put it back ,
TDC top dead centre sensor ,removed it cleaned with soft wire brush , replaced it ,
checked the wiring going to ECU the dreaded black box, which happened to be loose so removed , unplugged both , checked wires for any damage could not see any, but sprayed with WD 40 replaced , tried car run for a few miles but back to normal , lights back on ,
so went to other sensors , removed oxygen sensor , cleaned with wire brush ,checked all wires , [4wire type]ok , replaced ,checked water temperature sensor cleaned , ok put back ,
removed both plugs again from ECU and got a magnifying glass to check ,there was what looked like white particals around some of the pins ,so i sprayed a light coat of WD40 over them ,replaced
tried it and it has been going ok for about 100 mile now, no lights on , and no expence other than time , but it looks like the ECU plugs were the problem , so any one else with this fault go there first and try it , hope this helps ,
as the site helped us get the clio put right
thankyou ,
