Copperslip should no longer be used anywhere on brake pads,if you do decide to put grease on the backs of the pads and the contact points then specially designed grease is available.

Harsh noises from the brakes from an overnight stop is a sign that the brake discs have corroded and this quickly cleans off with a few applications of the brakes.It tends to happen more when there has been salt put on the roads or if there is a damp atmosphere/raining and you'll also notice it more on a car with rear discs.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
