Clio 2 - Rear brakes locking before front
I have a Clio 2 (1999) 1.1, discs on front and drums the on rear.
I recently changed the rear cylinders and shoes, I used the screw adjustment in the rear shoe assembly to get sensible travel on the handbrake lever. As after fitting the new components the handbrake was near vertical when applied. The automatic screw adjustment never seems to work for me so I did it manually.
The handbrake is fine, however I now find that when applying the foot brake when driving the brakes apply as normal then suddenly get stronger. It is driveable and have got used to it by now but doesn't seem right. After the new shoes were 'worn in' I found a wet, empty car park and harshly applied the brakes until something locked (no ABS!). To my surprise the rears are locking before the front, this is definately not right and I realise potentially dangerous.
Any pointers how to rectify grately appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
