The main issue seems to be the chassis point. As you'll see from the pics in the other thread I've managed to locate the perfect point for the lower hooks. However, my Scenic has the optional spare wheel fitted under the car. Not all have this as some only have a can of sealant & a pump !
It seems the point I'm using is part of the assembly bolted to the underside of the car that holds the spare in place.
I'd assume if you have a spare then you should have a similar assembly you could utilise.
I've had 3 bikes on my carrier with no issues regarding the weight the door is supporting.
