Renault Scenic 98 chassis

Just got back from the MOT. Scenic Megane, 98 model failed on rust on the chassis, directly underneath one of the rear doors.

The ground is currently covered in snow/slush and lots of it and don't want to start rolling around in it, or to pay the equivalent of 20 odd quid just to use a platform to raise it.

Does anybody know what size I need to replace it?

Is it, or will it be box stainless steel, steel tubing or what?

I'm presuming I can juist cut out the rusted secton and replace directly by welding?

Would that pass the MOT?
