The diesels reliability is greatly improved on later models ( late 2003 on) - modified intercoolers have been fitted and fully synthetic oil used. Also a lot more people are replacing oil at 9000 miles.
DCi is a turbo - the 2.2dci is a bit pokier but thirstier and more to insure. Unless you tow a caravan you probably wouldn't notice much difference -the 1.9dci 120bhp is a good engine esentially.
Only the Latest 05 facelif Lagunas have hands free card.
This option was never brought to the UK on earlier models.

WHen you buy I would buy from a garage and make sure you get a warranty , either remaining manufacturers or 12mths independant warranty at least.

The Lag has not been without its problems, although, thankfully a lot have been sorted over the years. Mondeos,Passats & Peugeots are also not without their problems. The Mazda 6 is probably the best bet for reliability but doesn't come with many toys and is very plasticky/bland inside.

Currently in SportTourer's garage:
2010 Laguna III SportTourer Initiale Tom Tom.
