Dephaser has been replaced, the car seems fine now.
Idles very quietly and has a fair bit more low down power, a fairly noticeable difference.
Took the guy 2 hours to do it, he didnt change the cambelt and other stuff because it was all done 200 miles ago.
My take on it is this (could be wrong though..)...
After the cambelt was done the car ran fine, but within 100 miles the dephaser started playing up.
I'm wondering if the tension of the new belt put extra strain on the dephaser (which could have been on the way out anyway) and that was the nail in the coffin.
I'm sure i have read on this forum a similar case.
The dephaser cost £150+ vat from Renault.
