Re: ** Jack up and place on axle stands renault clio 1.2 2004**

Hi there.

I regularly have to raise all soarts of cars (from city runarounds to 4x4's), but the overall principle for jacking is the same - only lift via a load-bearing point.

Most cars have some form of chassis rail (looks a bit like a long box section) running down each side of the floorpan - give it a rap with your knuckles to ensure it feels solid enough, then align your jack, and start lifting (after loosening the wheel bolts).

Remove the wheel once the tyre is no longer in contact with the road and only raise the car to the minimum height you need for the axle stand to slip under the suspension arm (as close to the hub as possible). Then gently lower into position, so the arm sits into the cradle, ensuring the axle stand sits square onto the ground.

Repaet the process for the other side, but go more slowly and keep checking the axle stand for movement.

I enclose a pic of one I lifted earler for a wheel refurb - this would've bee costly had I got it wrong....

Best of luck,

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
