As a van owner myself, I much prefer the ease (and increased safety) which comes from using a hydraulic trolley jack - I have one like this;

Much quicker to raise & lower the van, plus its lifting point is that much greater (and safer) than trying to find the slot that a scissors-type has to lock into.

A few velcro straps or bungee cord to secure it whilst driving, and you're sorted.
