Thanks. I have bought the Peter Russek books, which are not basic enough for what I want-they go beyond the Owner's Handbook. However, I think I can help with model identification. For 1992 on, the identification plate is attached to the engine block, below the exhaust manifold. In the right, centre of this plate ia an oval area. The top line is Vehicle type, with 4 digits. The first digit is R (fwd) or Q (rwd). The second digit should be one of: C, D, F, H, J, L, 7, 8. This determines either goods or personnel carrier, lwb or swb, and weight. The 3rd digit should be one of 1, 2, 5, 7, 9, A, B, D. This denotes body type. The 4th digit is engine type, and could be: 2, A, E, 4 etc.
