If you replaced the discs and pads the pedal should be good pretty much immediately.It's only when replacing just the pads and having slightly worn discs that they will cause 'spongyness' to the pedal.

I can't 100% remember the layout on the rear of the Scenic 1,but if the pads have nibs on the back of them make sure it is lined up with the cut out in the caliper piston.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
