I do know all of the above. Furthermore - due to PCMCIA in later laptops being derivative of PCI-E and USB most manufacturers just repack same schematic from USB to RS232 in the form PCMCIA II to rs232. Its cheaper for them, but really painful to get it working properly. Most Pentium 3 to early Pentium 4 have rs232 at the back. That is why I Am after one of them ( I am not in rush for anything so will probably get one for nothing anyway).
