after speaking to seward renault portsmouth I was horrified that they were qouting £150 per door to get them open and fit new locks.
then the parts were at least £65+ per door for the locks and he was not sure if the soliniod came with it, if not they were £65+ each.
THROW THE THING AWAY I THOUGHT.
so off to the breakers, day off work and get me a door lock. took one out of a basic clio with no soliniod first, then spotted a clio with central locking so decided to attack that with the door shut to practice how i was going to get the one out of the car at home.
could not get it out unless the door is open.
so £10 lighter home to attack the car.
handle off (which i had practised at the breakers) hammer and chisel, one good thump into the locks plastic parts and I'm in.
40 mins job done.
works a treat, off in a mo to get the other side.
Moral:- if not sure how to, then to the breakers practise on theres!
