Re: Megane Estate Boot Lock Fault
I had a similar problem last year.First, the boot refused to open. The garage located a wiring fault and "fixed" it, under warranty. Within a week I had a new problem; the boot opened whenever I pressed the starter button and the rear wiper turned itself on.
This time, the garage did a more permanant fix-it lasted a year.
Now, I have just it booked in for the third time.
Turning on the heated rear window, turns the rear wiper on. Turning the heated rear window off causes the boot to open.
At the top left of the tailgate is a rubber tube containing a whole bunch of fine wires. These flex every time you open/shut the tailgate, and eventually short out. The exact fault you get depends on which wires are shorting, but the common theme, on the 3 ocassions it has happened to me, is that the boot either won't open or opens when it is not supposed to.
To my mind, its a design fault-anyone else had similar problems?
