A new abs sensor is £155 so dont get one in haste. Get a garage to test it. I had mine replaced but it was not the real problem even though the computer told them it was.
The only real way to find out is test the lot, check the sensors, chase the wiring to check for bad earths then last call is the ABS unit.
Mine turned out to be a faulty ABS unit as they are prone to water ingress. Total bill to sort mine out was around £550 plus £155 for a new sensor that was not needed but luckily I didnt have to pay it as I had only just bought the car.
It could be a simple bad earth or bad connection so dont fear the worst yet.
