Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Engines - 1.8 16v MPG Figures & Owners Comments

My 1.8 16v manual has just turned over 98,000 miles.
Fully serviced with all new filters, Mobil 1, and Bosch Super 4 plugs.

I get 34.3mpg on a long run, but i do drive it fast.
My best ever on a long motorway run was 38.6mpg.

Around town i typically get 28 to 29.5mpg.
But the Laguna II is a heavy car for 120hp, so i find myself winding the 1.8 up to 3000, sometimes 3500rpm in traffic just to keep up with the flow of other cars.

Given the size and weight of the car i think the figures are pretty good.
I feel the air filter is too small for the engine. I have never seen such a small air filter on a car before. It needs changing yearly without doubt.
Also... whats with the rev limit at 5700rpm ?. It feels like it would go alot further, but it just hits a brick wall at 5700rpm.
Currently in Paul_Taylor's garage:
96 Saab 9000 Aero 2.3T. 310bhp: 02 Laguna II 3.0 V6 24v Dynamique Auto
