Re: megane II bumper trim replacement

Hi Chris, and welcome.

It certainly is possible, but be prepared for a lot of work.

The easiest way to paint them is by removing them from the car; they are held on by rather brittle & fragile plastic clips, so slow & steady is the way to progress here.

The next problem you face is whether you will be happy with a matt type finish, or if you want gloss. Gloss is much more difficult, as the trims (which are textured) need to be hand-sanded smooth, prior to primer/paint & lacquer.

If you want a matt or satin black which can be painted without priming, I can personally recommend Simoniz Tough Black which is very good indeed.

Having them off the car means you avoid the problem of gravity causing runs, masking off and you can paint indoors which will give a better finish.

If you need any further pointers, please ask away.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
