If this is a known problem and RUK are offering a service, maybe the thing to do would be to contact Renault direct at a higher level with your case.
It may be that they are in a better position to offer assistance to you in Aus.
I just dropped an email to the corporate website. Hopefully someone will read it and help. OR I could receive another email telling me how "reliable" Renault cars are and that they are sorry that I am having this problem and wish me good luck in replacing the instrument cluster at my own cost. *sigh*
