Re: Megane 1 faults

Hi, I had a 1996 Megane Coupe and these went wrong with it;
Rear wheel bearings - approx 80k miles on the clock so to be expected

Sunroof - plastic parts, a couple of hairline cracks meant it would not work - could not close it so had to remove interior light and immobiliser unit, then with an allen key wound the motor round till it closed - you have to remove the roof lining to replace the sunroof but can be done relatively easily - got a replacment, with full interior for 120 of ebay - bargain!!

Oil pressure switch - under a tenner - easy to replace

Rocker cover gasket - always replace this when changing the plugs as may not re-seat well enough and you'll get oil leaks

Front suspesnsion - leaking - replacement parts cost 180 - took half a day to replace

Door mechanism - sometimes the wire connector to the exterior handle comes loose/falls off - fiddly job to fix but cheap enough for replacement parts

Cam Belt - make sure you adhere to the requirements for this ands change the cam belt and water pump at the same time - you may as well chaneg the water pump at the same time as if you dont the pump could fail and snap the belt

Thats pretty much the main things on my old Megane Coupe.
