Coil Spring replacement -when is a good time?

Hi guys

Is there a recommended change time for springs on a car?

I ask because my car has 150,000 miles on it with the original springs and when I priced some springs on eBay I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable they are.

I will soon have to change my front shocks and I think, at the prices I seen on eBay , it may be very cost efficient to do the coils at the same time.

I feel my springs may be weak as the car is making a rubbing noise (tyres? can't be flaps - don't have any) when going quickly over succesive shallow bumps.

Would this be a complete waste or have people changed their springs for miraculous results?

It's a Safrane, not a Laguna.
