Reverse gear doesn't have a synchro hub but a dragging clutch could cause grating sound when trying to select reverse. All the other gears have synchro so if the clutch is dragging it won't be as noticable. Check around the gearbox bell housing for signs of
leaks or dampness. A clutch plate contaminated with
will drag unnecessarily.
Does the bite point of the clutch pedal seem high or low?
