I had a similar problem.Are you certain it has broken under the bonnet or inside the cab by the handle?
I had the "pull type" lever on passenger side under the dash.Remove by unscrewing the torx type screws allowing the lever body to be removed.Check the cable is or is not intact.If it has broken in the housing you can carefully pull the cable with a pair of mole grips and the bonnet should release.I repaired mine with a bike brake cable as the nib in the end was a perfect fit.Just had to secure under the bonnet with the retaining nut and bolt from a bike centre pull brake.If it has broken under the bonnet.I think the only way to release would be to have the vehicle on a garage ramp and attempt to access from the underside.
