It's not about generally pushing down on the footwell. The connecting rod for the servo is in the passenger well, at the top and can be inadvertently pushed. If you crane your neck, you'll see it.

On my Scenic, I must say that it does take some effort to do it though.

As for Citroen writing to you, I would expect them to, but if I were you I'd still like to get it checked out if they don't write.
