What lives under your bonnet?

Hi All,
Thursday was cambelt change day, keen to get on with the job i raised the bonnet and was shocked to say the least. Scraps of bread visible in both corners of the bulkhead!
The car was driven the day previous but no underbonnet checks made.
The wife reckons its mice but i'm not so sure, would a mouse be strong enough to drag such large pieces of bread so high up.
I removed the bread but the wife insisted on placing a mouse trap under the bonnet later that evening baited with cheese.
The next morning i gingerly raised the bonnet, the trap had not been sprung.
I'm more puzzled as to where the bread came from as we don't feed the birds during the warmer months of the year.
