The 2.2dci is a nice engine. Not without its problems, but then the Mondeo Tdci was troublesome ini ts earlier days.
Lagunas from late 2003 on are the better ones to go for, a lot of the earlier problems had been ironed out. A lot oof these cars have covered highe mileages now and there don't seem to be as many reports of problems as there are for 52 plate and older cars.
Make sure fully synthetic
is used and change
every 9k not 18k as recommended.
We have a 2004 Privilege, very nice spec, and "touch wood" has been reliable in the nearly 2 yrs we have had it.
We average over 50mpg on our normal commute to/from work which is a 38 mile round trip of mixed driving conditions. The 2.2 is a bit htirstier but you should still see 45mpg, unless you are pulling the shed.
