Wait a while with the radio ON, and it will eventually ask for the code - this is because it's been locked out due to incorrect entries (beeping every few seconds, but otherwise working normally?) - the period of time required starts at a few minutes and doubles for each incorrect code entry - I don't think they ever totally lock.
