Question about Scenic 2005 (54 Plate) brakes

Hi. I hope someone can help. I've just changed the front pads on my son in laws Scenic. The old pads were quite worn, but not to the metal.

When I went to roadtest it, the brakes work ok, but the pedal seems to fade as if there is a leak. It only does this when the engine is running. With the engine off, the brake pedal is firm with no fade. I can't see any leaks and nothing was dismantled from the fluid side of things, only the pads.

I hav'nt come across this before. I know the new pads need to bed in for a while, but I was wondering if this is normal for a Renault. As I say, the brakes seem to be stopping the car ok. I even tried an emergency stop, and that was ok.
Its just this fading that I'm not sure abouut.
Any help?
