Hi Lagdti, thanks for your reply.
There are wear ridges around the outer edge of the disc, but the rest of it looks ok.

I undid the reservoir cap, and pushed the pistons back very slowly.

Is this normal when putting on new pads? I know they need to bed in, but I was just concerned that the pedal faded when the engine was running, and was ok when the engine was stopped.

I would have thought if there was a leak of fluid somewhere, that the pedal fade would have been the same whether the engine was running or not.

As I say, the brakes certainly stop the car.
I have told my son in law to drive easy until they bed in, and to check the fluid level for any sign of loss.
